Adoption
It was surprising to me to find so many various articles on adoption. These seventeen articles range from adoption in America, international adoption, open adoption, adoption rights for same sex couples, embryo adoption, and adoption scams. It seems frightening the amount of news there is pertaining to adoption scams. Adoption scams occur mainly through international adoption, where children are kidnapped so the person can make money off of potential adopters. Scams can also include children whom do not exist, again for the same reason. It seems as Social Workers we have our work cut out for us in this field of Social Work. Many people go into this field because they want to help children find safe homes and families. It seems more work is needed for advocacy of safer agencies before we, as Social Workers, can work on feeling safe with finding a safe home for a child.
